The summer solstice is near, but this heat wave has us feeling like the season has already changed. If you are looking for a few fun activities to switch up your weekends, here are a few suggestions to add to your summer bucket list. 1. Whale Watching
Did you know that you could go whale watching in NYC? Hop down to the 34th Street or Battery Maritime ferry docks to step aboard a spacious 3-level watercraft anytime through November with Seastreak! The 3 1/2 hour boat ride takes you down to the shore of Sandy Hook, NJ. Seastreak also offers a variety of additional cruises, such as a 2 hour Hudson River sunset cruise. Check them out in the link below:
2. Grab your Sunscreen and Head to the Beach!
If you're in the mood to relax by the water, all eight NYC public beaches are now officially open for the summer!
Of course, social distancing will continue to be practiced along with safety and cleaning measures to protect all of us. In order to enforce this, the NYC park stores are selling social distancing towels that are aptly 6 feet long. Lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
3. Rowing at Hunts Point in Riverside Park
Explore the beautiful waterways around New York! Check out the official New York City parks and recreation website to stay updated with water sport lessons or tours in the upcoming weeks in Brooklyn and the Bronx.
